A young boy happily eating a large plate of french fries.

Leo loved french fries. He ate them for lunch, dinner, and wished for them for breakfast. They were his favorite food in the whole wide world.

A skeptical boy looking at a potato plant in a garden with his grandmother.

One sunny Saturday, his grandma took him to her garden. "Time to harvest the potatoes, Leo!" she said with a cheerful smile. Leo was confused. He just wanted fries.

A grandmother holding a freshly dug potato, showing it to her grandson.

Grandma dug up lumpy, bumpy, earthy things. "These are potatoes," she explained. Leo was unimpressed. They looked nothing like his beloved golden, crispy fries.

Close-up of hands slicing potatoes into the shape of french fries.

Back in the kitchen, Grandma washed, peeled, and sliced the potatoes into familiar shapes. Leo watched, his eyes widening with curiosity. "Wait a minute..."

French fries sizzling in a pan of hot oil, turning golden brown.

A sizzle and a wonderful smell filled the air as the potato sticks danced in hot oil. They slowly turned from pale white to a beautiful, crispy gold.

The boy looking amazed and joyful as he eats a homemade french fry.

Grandma served him a warm plate. Leo took a bite. It was salty, fluffy, and perfect. "It's... a potato?" he asked in amazement. Grandma smiled. "The very best fries are!" It was his Fry-Day Revelation.
